Nigerians are now sitting on the edges of anticipation to witness a never seen before football tournament poise to harness peaceful co-existence among Nigerians through football tournament tagged Unity and Peace football Tournament. This is an initiative of Pre-Adult Affairs Organization (PAAO), A non-governmental Organization. Sandra while speaking with our correspondent recently said: "Football as we know is more than just kicking a ball; football can contribute towards restoring a positive atmosphere and positive energy especially in a rancorous environment. The historical trajectory of electoral process in Nigeria has been characterized by ethnic and political violence resulting in instability in democratic consolidation as well as the loss and displacement of many innocent lives. However, amid the gloom and doom of pre and post election violence, if a footballing competition comes up in Nigeria, it becomes a unifying factor where every tribe, political affiliation and religion feel equal as they share uniform passion" .She however added that PAAO is therefore exploiting the unifying Power of the game to curb election violence as well as ethnic, religious and political intolerance amongst Nigerian Youths. While Yinka Davies is the face of the project, Nigerian super coach, Samson Siasia is billed to handle the techinical aspect of the tournament with Nigeria international football star cum model, Ebuka Emmanuel Eluobi. Nollywood actor, Frances Duru is also said to have indicated interest to be part of the noble cause.
