Kwara Gov., Abdulfatah Ahmed Pays Bukola Saraki N100 Million Monthly "Pocket Money" – Insiders Alleges
Information filtering out of Kwara State, involving the Governor of the State, Abdul Fatah Ahmed and the newly elected Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki, that civil servants in the state are groaning and living under severe hardship over unpaid salaries which is getting to it’s third month.
We learnt the workers would not have been complaining as the economic downturn affects almost all the States of the Federation, but a recent revelation that Bukola Saraki who handed over the reign of Kwara State government to Gov Fatah collects the sum of 100 million naira as upkeep allowance on a monthly basis from the state govrenment is not going down well with the civil servants.
The source informed us that since governor Abdulfatah Ahmed took over power from Bukola Saraki in 2011, the incumbent governor has been paying Saraki the sum of 100 million naira on a monthly basis from the State’s account.
"That is the situation we have found ourselves in Kwara State. Gov. Abdulfatah pays Bukola Saraki 100 million naira every month as pocket money, while civil servants are not being paid salaries. Saraki claims he is using the money to oil his political machinery in the state. Sometimes ago, Gov. Ahmed and his wife had to fly to London to meet Bukola Saraki’s wife, Toyin to beg her when Toyin said that she was angry about the way Gov. Ahmed’s wife was treating her. We are trapped in Kwara and nobody can say anything". Our source in Ilorin disclosed.
However, we further learnt that at the height of Bukola Saraki’s campaign for the Senate President’s seat in the National Assembly, Gov. Abdulfatah Ahmed practically emptied the Kwara State’s treasury, took it to Abuja to lobby senators to vote Saraki as Senate President.
"Senator Dino Melaye was coordinating the distribution of thousands of dollars to the Senators then. We know the money came from Gov. Abdulfatai Ahmed of Kwara State". A source in the National Assembly told us.
However, our source contacted the spokesperson of Kwara State governor, Femi Akorede to confirm the authenticity of this story, but he denied the allegation saying "the story is illogical and there is no iota of truth in it. It is not possible for a State that is collecting only 3.2 Billion naira allocation from the Federal Government be paying 100 million naira to Bukola Saraki!. Besides Bukola Saraki is a successful businessman that has various business organisations to generate money, so he doesn’t need to rely on Kwara State as a source of generating funds to oil his political structure in Kwara State".
