Slain Iyaloja of Ijebu Land, Alhaja Saidat Eleweju, Laid To Rest


                         
Slain Iyaloja of Ijebu land, Alhaja Saidat Eleweju has been laid to rest according to the Muslim rites. She was buried on Thursday in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State. Gunmen suspected to be assassins on Wednesday hacked the popular market leader to death..
The deceased was 82.
Elewuju was reportedly attacked by six unidentified men at her residence in Sabo-Molode area of Ijebu-Ode in Ijebu-Ode Local Government Area of Ogun State at about 3pm.
She was hacked to death with machetes after the men riddled her body with bullets.
Though she was rushed to the hospital alive, she died there.
Elewuju was taken to three hospitals, including Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching hospital and the Lagos State Teaching Hospital.
The Police Public Relations Officer in Ogun State, Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the death of Elewuju.
Adejobi said: "She was attacked by suspected assailants and found in the pool of her blood.
"Someone informed the police.
"We rushed down to the area.
"We found mama in the pool of her blood.
"She was taken to hospital in Sagamu for treatment.
"She was later referred to another hospital in Lagos where she was confirmed dead.
"The command will do the needful to make sure we get those culprits apprehended and brought to book.
"The commissioner of police, Abdulmajid Ali, will visit the scene, visit the family, visit Ijebu town so that we will be able to restrategise and make sure there is proper security in Ijebu-Ode and do proper investigation into the matter.
"We assure the good people of the state that we are going to get those who perpetrated the act.
"We want to commiserate with the family of the deceased, we want to commiserate with the people of Ijebu-Ode and the Iyaloja community in Ogun State generally.
"We want to assure them that the police would definitely make sure that these culprits are brought to book and justice is done in the matter.
"And of course to put every structure on ground to forestall such future incident in Ijebu-Ode and its environs."
Elewuju was buried on Friday according to Muslim rites.
