The Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, on Wednesday paid an unscheduled visit to the Lagos Television 8 studios in Agidingbi, Ikeja.

There, Ambode made a pledge to give all the necessary support to upgrade it to a world class broadcast station.

The Governor, who arrived at the station at about 9am in company of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, Paul Bamgbose-Martins, said the station has the potentials to compete with the best TV stations in the world.

Governor Ambode, who was conducted round the TV station by the Director of Programmes, Deji Balogun, and Director of Finance, Lawrence Ojo, also inspected the facilities in the various studios, promising to digitalize the station and support it to become the best station in the Nigeria.

He recommended that the station reviews and improves its programming, while the aesthetics of the studios should be improved upon.

He also frowned at the use of the company’s premises for other commercial activities other than television production.
