Stanbic IBTC’s Oba Akran Branch Turns Prostitutes/ Touts Den…Bank Ignores Security Warning (Photos)

The attention of the public has been drawn to an alleged unholy and wholesome transaction that is being touted to be brewing between some unscrupulous element of people, call girls and security officers of the South African financial institution, Stanbic IBTC, Oba Akran Avenue, Ikeja Lagos branch.

The bank which was recently in the news concerning the allegation of professional misconduct by the financial regulating body, that led to the suspension of some of its directors, is definitely not living to expectations of the general public in terms of security and reputation ethos.

The prostitutes who ply their trade around the Oba Akran Ikeja axis and who often come to unwind at the clubs within that avenue, Club Royale, Intro Bar, the Ikeja Capital Hotel etc now see the willing security officers attached to the financial home as their vault keepers just for a paltry tip of N100-N200.

According to a source, the security of the bank, unknowingly, keep some dangerous weapons for these night crawlers that they use to perpetrate all kinds of nefarious activities in the early hours when the clubs are closed for the day. The security also not minding the hues and cry of the general populace to the rise in security concerns within Lagos as a whole, the gate keepers would rather chose to pretend that they don’t know how dangerous this ‘help’ they are rendering to these society misfits can be.

It is alleged that this girls of the night aside their personal effects also hide or carry weapons in their handbags sometimes given to them by their lovers with which they attack and dispose their victims of their valuables.

We tried on various occasions before posting this report to reach the Corporate Communication of Stanbic IBTC with this allegation for clarification. We met the acting Communication Manager, Melvin Awolowo, a renowned journalist before moving into banking sector and this was the response given to us as regards the on-going activities on the bank’s soil.

Dear Michael,

Apologies for the seeming silence.

I really thought I’d responded to your email or at least acknowledge receipt.

Please note that we do appreciate your concern and are currently doing our own investigations into the matter.

We will notify you once we’re through with our findings.

Many thanks again.

Regards."

Almost three weeks after the receipt of this letter, the bank is yet to carry out the said investigation as these pictures were taken by yours truly yesterday, Wednesday at midnight. The security men were seen accommodating bags from the girls to keep and as well allowing cars to be packed in the bank premise for a token of N200. Some were seen carrying out all sorts of sexual acts in their car while some were sighted using the venue to smoke India hemps/marijuana since it’s forbidden to smoke them inside the watering hole.

Sometime wonder why South African businesses in Nigeria are faced with all kinds of challenges, if you remember the MTN saga, from the look of things, it’s necessary for the organization to put some structures on ground, the Nigerian-way, that will enable them carry out scandal-free businesses so they can compete favourably with their competitors
