Ogunwusi to be crowned today as new Ooni of Ife
The new Ooni of Ife, Prince Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, will be crowned today as the Arole-Oduduwa and assumed the title of the Ojaja II, having completed the coronation rites at the Ilofi shrine at Iremo in Ife late yesterday, Daily Trust learnt.
Prince Ogunwusi had begun the traditional rites at Ilofi on Friday, October 30, and his official coronation and public inauguration is billed for December 7, 2015.
Sources from the Ooni’s palace said Prince Ogunwusi would be crowned at the Ile- Oodua today and would enter the palace for the first time as the new Ooni of Ife to take over after the death of his predecessor, Oba Okunade Sijuwade.
According to sources at the palace, the coronation will not be done in public in accordance with the custom and tradition of Ile-Ife and only members of the Isoro cult will attend the event.
