The Glitz, Glamour of African Meets Reggae Festival 2016


The Hockey Pitch of National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos came alive recently when the African Meets Reggae festival held its third edition of the annual fiesta. 

It was a combination of music interaction and performing art, the initiative, which is part of the organizers commitment to the creative industry, is gradually becoming a major event in  the country's event calendar. 

The evening was spiced with comedy and music, drawing an array of performers from Nigeria and abroad.
 Nigeria's comedian, Koffi, complemented other African comedians and thrilled the audience to very thoughtful comedy.

While the pair of Victor Essiet otherwise known as  Mandators, Shey Shay and El Jay from United  States, stirred the night with thier vocal renditions, South African'Lucky Dube's daughter, Nkulee, similarly dazzled many with her rich repertoire of contemporary African beat. 

As expected, the show lived up to expectation, a good way to begin the yuletide season and attracted top rated celebrities, and stakeholders in the showbiz industry. 

This year edition was one of the several times  the organizers has given Reggae Music lovers a reason to dance, mingle and unwind in an extremely fun atmosphere. 

The star studded event also  featured live performances by Sule Alao Malaika, Pasuma, Small Doctor, King Wadada,Red Fadh from Ghana,Orishafemi, and host of others. 

Reiterating the organizers commitment, Victor Essiet said the idea is aimed to build a formidable arts community in Nigeria and Africa with rich entertainment  to sustain and develop Reggae Music in the continent.

 He further said part of the objective in holding the festival was to foster more collaborations between players in the arts and other communities leading to the deepening of Reggae music spirit in the entertainment world. 
According him,  we are quite delighted to put together this year event. We undoubtedly have the talents to create spectacle as artistry and creativity which comes from within. 

We are also encouraged by the enthusiasm and huge turnout of participants which clearly indicates that our drive to inspire creativity and innovations remains on course and we look forward to 2017 edition", he enthused.
