The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the retirement of controversial Police Officer Joseph Mbu and 20 other Assistant Inspectors General (AIGs) of Police from service.
The Guardian had reported that more than 20 AIGs were going to proceed on retirement following the appointment of acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris, who is their junior on the rank, before his elevation to hold the enviable position, when Solomon Arase completed his tenure.
A statement issued yesterday by the Commission’s Assistant Director of Press Ikechukwu Ani said the 21 AIGs “ who were senior to the new acting Inspector General of Police before his appointment” are Bala A Hassan, Yahaya Garba Ardo, Irmiya F Yarima, Danladi Y. Mshebwala, Tambari Y. Mohammed, Bala Magaji Nasarawa, Musa Abdulsalam and Adisa Bolanta.
Others are Mohammed J. Gana, Umaru Abubakar Manko, Lawal Tanko, Olufemi A. Adenike, Johnson A Ogunsakin, Adenrele T. Shinaba and James O. Caulcrick.
Others also affected are Olufemi David Ogunbayode, Edgar T Nanakumo, Kalafite H. Adeyemi, former Force Secretary Patrick D. Dokumor, Sabo Ibrahim Ringim and Mbu Joseph Mbu.
According to the statement, the Chairman of the Commission, Mike Okiro, while congratulating the affected officers for their meritorious service to the nation, wished them well in their future endeavours.
