My Mother is an Illiterate, Yet I Appreciate Her...Toyin Aimakhu
Nollywood star actress Toyin Aimakhu has recently called out youths to love and appreciate their mothers, regardless their status.
She urged youths to be proud of their mothers even though they are illiterates, and they should learn to flaunt their mothers publicly.
The diva further disclosed the status of her mother, as she described her as "iya ular iya Laila," a woman who cannot speak English but can speak in Tongues; she cannot read or write but can read the bible.
According to her, "Please let's be proud of our mothers,my mum iya ular iya Laila can't speak English but she can speak in Tongues, she can't read or write but I wonder how she can read the Bible, she didn't go to school but she has got great kids great graduates please lets appreciate mothers."
Though Toyin’s mum did not go to school but she has great kids who are graduates, to celebrate mothers, Toyin has set up a program that would glam mothers.
This program was actually inspired by a young copper who shared a picture of himself and his mother who sponsored him through school through the sale of fish.
Lifestyle:Sexuality and its science
Today, we shall be looking at some sexuality facts that can enhance our sexuality. Wives, sex time is not the best time to shed tears because the scent of a woman’s tears decreases sexual arousal in men. Some researchers have speculated that a woman’s libido is linked to her testosterone level. Although usually thought of as a male hormone, testosterone is also made in small quantities in women. It is produced in her ovaries. As she ages, her body produces less of all the sex hormones, which include estrogens, progesterone and testosterone. By age 40, the production of testosterone in a woman’s body is about half the amount made in the 20s. Although the ovary continues to produce testosterone after menopause, these levels drop gradually after this time. Women who have their ovaries surgically removed have even lower levels of testosterone.
Do you wonder why your desire for junk food increases when you are in your period? Well, here is the reason. Some women get cravings for strange foods when they are in their period, simply because women are hormonal beings and hormones cause cravings. As the cycle swings, the hormone swings. This makes a woman’s taste buds want spicy and salty food to prevent anaemia, so that the iron level goes up and the blood volume goes up. With the changes in metabolism, some women may feel cravings for carbohydrates, or any number of other food. Do you also wonder why your desire for sex increases when you are ‘on?’ Well, an increase in sexual libido during menstrual period has to do with hormones. They cause the vaginal secretions to increase, causing the breasts to swell, so there is that sexual feeling. It’s the nature’s way of saying, let’s have sex.
Do you wonder why you have such a heavy flow? Well, maybe your body is trying to tell you something because your period is your ‘barometer.’ A heavy flow can be a marker of uterine fibroids, which are benign growths on the uterus, or thyroid problems or hormone irregularities. It is important for you to see your doctor if your periods are heavy [meaning more than a pad an hour] or if you are flooding [meaning bright red blood that just does not stop]. It is not healthy to have menstrual clotting, it most of the time points to the existence of fibroids. And if you have a lot of them, more than a cup a day or saturating those pads, over an hour, or you’re starting to have symptoms of anaemia or low iron like headache and dizziness, see your doctor fast.
Do you wonder why you get diarrhoea and constipation during your period? Again, the single reason is your hormones. All women react differently to hormones. Actually, the hormones in a woman’s body control her temperature, especially around the time she ovulates. It is also responsible for the acne [pimples] around the menstrual periods that people term the breast tenderness, and for so many things. In fact, the slowing down of metabolism in the gastrointestinal tract is the reason why many pregnant women will become constipated or have diarrhoea. It is so because of those high hormone levels during pregnancy.
You can also prevent a whole lot of infections during your menstrual period if you minimise the hours you wear your sanitary pad. Sanitary pad should not be worn more than six to eight hours per day. Sanitary pad worn for longer period can be a medium for bacteria and can lead to uterine infections and toxic shock syndrome. If you are a lover of tampon, bear it in mind that it can be stuck and get wedged behind your cervix. Prescribed antibiotics especially during menstrual period to cure some aliment can allow the growth of yeast infection such as ‘toilet disease, itching in the private part and some STDs. While taking antibiotic prescription, try to eat yogurt, which is the more natural way of taking antifungal to balance up.
Do you wonder why your menstrual cycle is never regular? Well, a research at George Washington University did a first-of-its-kind survey of the menstrual histories of more than 600 women. They found that only 28 per cent of women had textbook cycles, and this is the conclusion. If you are over 45 and you are pushing past 35 days, it may be because you are in your pre-menopausal and beginning to ovulate less frequently. As women age from their 20s through their early 40s, the average menstrual cycle declines from 30 to 27 days (though many women had cycles that were longer or shorter). This average increases as they approach menopause: up to 35 days when they are three to four years away, then 45 days two years prior to the change, and finally 80 days in the year before they stop altogether.
However, if you have a 14-day cycle followed by a 36-day cycle, that is usually an indication that you have a hormone imbalance, you should see your doctor, especially if you are still at an age where you might want to get pregnant. However, if you are missing periods entirely and you are not pregnant, your ovaries are probably failing to release an egg (anovulation), which means your body will not produce the hormones that guide menstruation. Stress can trigger anovulation; you do not have to worry if it happens just once or twice a year. In older women, a “missed” period may also simply be a very long cycle. Experts say that when you see a 60-day cycle, that is a good indication you are approaching menopause. According to research from the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel, ginseng root boosts arousal and sexual satisfaction, and chocolate increases desire. A group of scientists recently carried out a research on why a typical teenage Nigerian girl becomes sexually active indiscriminately and this report was sent to my office. In the report, 90 per cent of mothers claimed to have spoken to their daughters about the danger of indiscriminate sexual activities but only 21 per cent of these girls confirmed this statement and 50 per cent said their moms had never talked to them about sex. Ninety four per cent of these mothers said they did not have a conversation about sex with their own mothers before their first sexual experience. 42 per cent of these girls said their beliefs about sex are most influenced by their religion, education, their own thoughts and experiences and have nothing to do with their parents while just 12 per cent of girls said their beliefs about sex are most influenced by their mothers’ beliefs and experiences. The most common message moms said they passed on during the sex talk is, “A man will tell you anything to get you into bed, it doesn’t mean he loves you or will marry you.” “Be careful of men; all they want is ‘use’ you and dump you.”
Seventy per cent of girls say they get most of their information about sex from the Internet and friends. Eighty seven per cent of these girls say if they have opportunity to talk to their moms like their friend about sex, it will shape their commitment to abstinence before marriage and be more comfortable about their sexuality. This is what Nigerian young girls think about sex. Do you know what your girl is really thinking about sex?
Do you know that you can have a great, long-lasting sex life with the same married partner as long as you both are married? Absolutely yes, this was a discovery some researchers got from a group of 600 married couples who have been married for over 25years. However, they discovered that these couples were not having movie-style sex. In movie sex, relationship sex is romantic and passionate: You idealise your partner; you are turned on even before you begin, and you make love every time you are together. In an ongoing relationship, sex is more about intimacy and security and it is integrated with friendship and companionship. It was also discovered that couples who keep their sex lives going develop a style early on in their marriage. Who initiates, how much foreplay is included, do they like taking turns, do they or don’t they appreciate quickies? They also consciously make time for sex. Most long-term couples plan their sexual experiences; it is like going on a holiday trip, part of the pleasure is looking forward to it. Sexually satisfied couples also know that sometimes the “holiday” will be great and other times, it will be business as usual.
This type of healthy, mutually pleasuring sex really helps strengthen the bond between couples. Until next week, I remain your loyal bedroom instructor.

Arms probe: EFCC traces N4.75bn to Obanikoro’s sons
The Task Force investigating the alleged diversion of $2.1bn meant for arms procurement under the immediate past administration of Dr. Goodluck Jonathan has embarked on a discrete investigation into the former Minister of State for Defence, Sen. Musiliu Obanikoro.
It was gathered that the team of EFCC investigators had traced the sum of N4.75bn to the account of Silva McNamara Limited with Diamond Bank with links to the family of the former minister.
A top operative of the commission, who confided in our correspondent, said that the company had two sons of the former minister on its board.
The names of the relatives on the company’s board are Gbolahan Obanikoro and Babajide Obanikoro.
It was stated that the duo were on the board of the company till 2014 when one Olalekan Ogunseye became the sole signatory to the company’s account.
Investigations revealed that the funds were paid into the McNamara account from the Central Bank of Nigeria Imprest Account of the National Security adviser between June 6, 2014 and December, 12, 2015.
The breakdown of the lodgements of funds into the account during the six months period revealed that N200m was paid into the account on June 6, 2014; N2bn on June 16, 2014; N60m on July 6, 2014 and N7, 000m on July 7, 2014.
Other lodgements into the account within the period include the payment of N1bn on July 30, 2014; N160m on August 8, 2014; N225m on August 22, 2014; N200m on November, 14, 2014 and N200m on December, 5, 2014.
The source said that the commission was probing the payment of N4.75bn to McNamara because the funds were released without any contractual evidence.
It was however stated that Obanikoro’s name was not found in the transactions as he was not on the board of the company.
It was stated that efforts are being made to unravel the mystery behind the payment of the large amount of money to the company which has two of his sons as members of the board of directors. -PUNCH.
Our correspondent could not get the Head of Media and Publicity of the EFCC, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, to comment on the story as the calls to his mobile telephone line did not connect.
In his response, however, a media aide to Obanikoro, Mr. Jonathan Eze, denied allegations that the former minister was involved in any fraud.
He said all the allegations were mere speculations and urged members of the public to treat them as such.
He said, “As far as Senator Obanikoro is concerned, these are mere allegations that have not been proven and can never be proved. The former minister insists that his children were never directors at the company and were never signatories“These allegations are the handiwork of Sahara Reporters and I have taken them to court. Very soon, the truth will be made known but I urge members of the public not to believe these allegations. Senator Obanikoro’s children are victims of cheap politics but the truth will be revealed.”
Biafra: Court denies Kanu, two others bail
A Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday denied bail to the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra and founder of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, and his two other co-accused.
Kanu, David Nwawusi and Benjamin Madubugwu are being prosecuted on six counts of treasonable felony, unlawful possession of firearms and other offences bordering on their agitation for secession of the Republic of Biafra from Nigeria.
Justice John Tsoho, in rejecting the accused persons’ bail application on Friday, held that they were not entitled to bail as they failed to challenge the allegation by the prosecution that they would not continue to commit the alleged crime for which they were being prosecuted if granted bail.
Earlier before the ruling was delivered on Friday, the lawyer, who had on January 25, 2016 argued the bail application on behalf of the accused persons, Nnoruka Udechukwu (SAN), withdrew from the case, following a handwritten letter sent to Justice Tsoho by Kanu from his custody in Kuje Prison.
The content of the letter, dated January 26, 2016, which was addressed before the judge proceeded to deliver the ruling on the bail application on Friday, informed the judge that he had not instructed Udechukwu to represent him.
Udechukwu, who, however, claimed that he was instructed to handle the case, promptly withdrew from the case and handed over to Mr. Chuks Mouoma (SAN) and Mr. Ifeanyi Ejiofor, whom Kanu indicated as his preferred lawyers in his letter.
Justice Tsoho had earlier noted that there was no objection to his being represented by Udechukwu during the hearing of the application on January 25.
Meanwhile, the judge in his ruling upheld the contention by the prosecuting counsel, Mr. Mohammed Diri, who had opposed the bail application, to the effect that the accused were likely to interfere with and intimidate prosecuting witnesses.
The judge also ruled that contrary to the contention by defence lawyers, the charge of treasonable felony, which attracts life imprisonment on conviction, are serious ones as held by the Supreme Court in Federal Government’s case against Asari Dokubo.
He also held that the charges filed by the Federal Government were not trumped-up as contended by the defence.
He held that the defence failed to contradict the exhibits tendered by the prosecution in opposing the bail application to the effect that the accused were likely to constitute “threats to the peace and tranquility of the country.”
He ruled that rather than contradict the allegation with a rebuttal, the applicants chose to “maintain that they are within their right to agitate for self-determination.”
He also rejected the defence’s contention that the continued arrest since October 14, 2015, violated his rights under section 35.
The judge also ruled that Kanu’s admission that he was a dual citizen of Nigeria and Britain further “heightened the possibility of him jumping bail.”
The judge ruled that rather than grant bail to the accused persons, he would order an accelerated hearing of the case with the possibility of hearing it on daily basis.
“It is my candid opinion that the three defendants are not entitled to bail. Accordingly, they are to be detained in prison pending their trial,” the judge ruled.
He adjourned till February 9, 10, 11 and 12 for trial.
Kanu was in the custody of the Department of State Service since his arrest in a Lagos hotel on October 14, 2015 till January 20, 2016, when he was transferred to prison by an order of Justice Tsoho, shortly after he was arraigned along with two others
“In my view, this does not contradict the allegation. It is trite that an allegation not challenged is deemed admitted,” the judge held.

Jonathan an ‘ineffectual buffoon’ – The Economist
Renowned magazine, The Economist, has described Nigeria’s former President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, as an "ineffectual buffoon".
The magazine made the remark in a passing manner in a commentary on developments in Nigeria.
The article, centred on the running of the country by President Muhammadu Buhari, especially the fight against corruption and rebuilding the economy, said corruption flourished under Jonathan.
It said Buhari’s government was cracking down on corruption, which grew in leap and bounds under Jonathan, who at a point while in government said there was a difference between stealing and corruption.
The Economist wrote: "The government (Buhari’s government) has cracked down on corruption, which had flourished under the previous president, Goodluck Jonathan, an ineffectual buffoon who let politicians and their cronies fill their pockets with impunity. Lai Mohammed, a minister, reckons that just 55 people stole $6.8 billion from the public purse over seven recent years."
Perhaps the major focus now in the country is the conversion of $2.1 billion meant for the purchase of arms for the fight against insurgency into political use.
Former National Security Adviser under Jonathan, retired Colonel Sambo Dasuki, was said to have funnelled the money to cronies of the former President for political purposes and non-

TONY ELUMELU FOUNDATION, UBA, THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE PARTNER TO ENABLE ENTREPRENURSHIP IN AFRICA
The Tony Elumelu Foundation and United Bank for Africa Plc (UBA) partnered with the United States Department of Commerce to host a panel and roundtable discussion between members of the U.S. Presidential Council on Doing Business in Africa (PCDBIA)and a diverse community of African entrepreneurs.
The 11 person U.S. delegation, along with representatives of several U.S. government trade and investment-focused agencies, was led by the Honourable Penny Pritzker – U.S. Secretary of Commerce. The Council visited Lagos as part of a fact-finding mission to help inform their upcoming report to President Obama on how to strengthen commercial engagement between the U.S. and Africa, which will result in mutually-beneficial growth.
The event – titled "Unleashing Africa’s Entrepreneurs: Strengthening the Entrepreneurial Ecosystem to Empower the Next Generation of Africa’s Business Leaders" – brought together American business leaders and Nigerian entrepreneurs to discuss challenges, solutions and innovations in the current African business environment. The event was designed to allow representatives of the U.S. Government to participate in direct and substantive discussions with Africa’s emerging business leaders – an opportunity to engage in a dialogue that has the potential to influence U.S. foreign policy for Africa.
"President Obama believes, as I do, that the American private sector, working in partnership with the African business community, and African entrepreneurs can help address many of the continent’s most pressing challenges, including creating jobs and opportunity for young people across the continent," said U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker. "I am proud to lead our Administration’s effort to support and empower aspiring entrepreneurs, both in the United States and across the globe."
UBA Chairman Tony O. Elumelu, through his eponymous Foundation, hosted the delegation, and expressed gratitude for the collaborative approach the Council and U.S. Commerce Department are taking in engaging local entrepreneurs as part of their deliberations.
"Too often, well-meaning foreign policy-makers develop strategies to help Africans without actually engaging us," he said. "In order to effectively help or support people, we should ask them what kind of help they want. So, I thank you for doing that with African businesses."For the U.S. Government, this trip begins the Road to GES 2016 – the Global Entrepreneurship Summit; an annual gathering of entrepreneurs at all stages of business development, designed to demonstrate the U.S. Government’s commitment to fostering entrepreneurship around the world.
Expressly designed to address the needs of and provide opportunities for the next generation of African entrepreneurs, the entrepreneurs in attendance included SMEs supported by UBA Plc, UNCTAD’s EMPRETEC Nigeria Foundation and those selected for the Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship Programme (TEEP) – a 10-year, $100 million commitment by the Tony Elumelu Foundation to empower the next generation of Africa’s entrepreneurs with businesses that have the potential to generate income and jobs for their nations.
The Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurs in attendance were selected from the Agriculture, Media & Entertainment, ICT, Transport, Healthcare and Financial Services sectors. Their startups reflect the potential that entrepreneurship holds for spurring Africa's transformation; already, they have begun creating jobs in their local communities and generating tax revenues for governments earning them recognition in both local and international media
How to Achieve your SMART Financial Goals in 2016
Everyone desires financial success, but that desire must be matched with SMART financial goals to translate to success.
Most times, we set financial goals that are self-defeating. The reason why it seems like New Year resolutions to eat healthier or exercise regularly almost always fail by the second month of the year is because most times, we do not set clear parameters for success. In the end, our resolution becomes merely a wish.
Setting S.M.A.R.T. financial goals forces us to become accountable and ensures that we actualize our goals towards financial security.
With a brand promise to make banking simply and smarter, Union Bank has created several solutions to ensure that customers meet their financial goals when they make SMART decisions about their finances.
MAKING S.M.A.R.T FINANCIAL GOALS:
1. BE SPECIFIC
First, your financial goals should be as specific as possible in order to successfully achieve exactly what you want. Always include as much detail as possible.
How much do I earn?
How much do I spend?
What are my fixed expenses?
How much disposable income do I have?
Being able to answer this questions then you can know exactly how much you have to spend.
Union Bank created the UnionKorrect savings scheme to conveniently help its customers achieve their financial goals. Whether your dream is to buy a car or save towards the purchase of a land, with as little as N5000 monthly savings with your UnionKorrect account, we will set you on a path to achieving your dream over a set period of time. In addition, with UnionKorrect customers stand a chance to win up to N1million in a quarterly draw. With UnionKorrect, you can save small and do big thing2. YOUR GOAL SHOULD BE MEASURABLE
In order to achieve your goal, it must be measurable. For example, simply saying "I want to save more" is not measurable. Even if you have a vague idea of what that would mean for yourself, you have no way of knowing when you’ve achieved it or how you plan to achieve it. If you were to say, "I would like to save N1, 000,000 in 4 years for a plot of land" this would be measurable and achievable with a UnionKorrect account. A standing instruction is placed on your existing Union Bank account and your UnionKorrect account is credited monthly with starting at N5000 or any multiple amount you specify.
A standing order (or a standing instruction) is an instruction a bank account holder gives to his or her bank to pay a set amount at regular intervals to another account.
3. IS YOUR GOAL ATTAINABLE?
Ensure to set financial goals that are attainable. This is why setting specific, detailed goals are important. By identifying what you hope to achieve, you can identify potential roadblocks and obstacles that could make it difficult to get where you want to be financially.
4. BE REALISTIC
Much like your goal should be attainable, it should also be realistic. While we aren’t suggesting that realistic should equal easy, ensure that your goals present a challenge you are able to overcome. It will take effort but it is not impossible.
5. TIMELY
Lastly, ensure that your goal is timely. In order to be measurable, your goals must have a well-defined timeframe. Often times, we do not consider time when we set our goals and it leads us to setting high expectations over a short period of time, causing us to abandon our goals midway when we don’t see the desired progress. UnionKorrect is a tenured savings solution that helps you achieve financial progress over a reasonably set period of time ensuring that you are not overstretched as you work towards your financial goals.
So, have you set your SMART financial goals? Call Union Bank today on 0700 700 7000 and sign up for UnionKorrect or any of our other financial solutions to help you achieve you goals.

Hyundai Motor’s Genesis and Tucson models earn world-renowned safety award
Hyundai Motor’s Genesis and Tucson have been recognised by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s (IIHS) 2016 Top Safety Pick+ awards. This prestigious awards body helps consumers select vehicles that offer the highest level of crash protection by conducting extensive testing and awarding those which are worthy.
Jin (James) Kim, Vice President and Head of Operations at Hyundai Motor Company Africa and Middle East said: “Our company’s emphasis on safety is once again highlighted as two very different models, one an SUV and one a luxury sedan, are internationally recognised for their advanced safety technologies. The features which I think have helped us secure these awards are elements such as the autonomous emergency braking feature, lane departure warning with lane keep assist and the emergency brake assist offering.”
Adrian Lund, IIHS president commented on the rationale behind the Hyundai recognition: “The Genesis is equipped with Electronic Stability Control (ESC), nine airbags and energy-absorbing front airbags, while the Tucson has AEB, helping these vehicles earn our top rating. Both earned a required good rating in the small overlap front crash evaluation and a superior-or advanced-rated front crash prevention system with automatic braking capabilities, a key criteria to qualify for a Top Safety Pick+ award.”
IIHS rates vehicles in a small overlap front crash, moderate overlap front crash, side and roof strength, and head restraint tests, as well as a standard or optional front crash prevention system. Winners of the Top Safety Pick+ award must earn good ratings for occupant protection in all five of the evaluations. For the first time, a good rating in the small overlap front crash test is required to earn the award.

Bill Cosby: Email may derail case against entertainer
Former district attorney in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, claims he agreed more than a decade ago that his office wouldn’t use a civil deposition given by Bill Cosby in any criminal matters, an email obtained by CNN shows a revelation that could call into question the viability of the criminal case against the comedian.
The 2015 email sent by former District Attorney Bruce Castor to successor Risa Vetri Ferman — details an apparent verbal agreement the prosecutor had a decade earlier with Cosby’s attorneys for Cosby to testify in a civil sexual assault case brought against him in 2005. In the email, Castor writes that his intent in making the deal was to create an atmosphere in which Cosby accuser Andrea Constand would have the best chance of prevailing in her civil suit against the 78-year-old comedian by removing the p
CNN reports that the email was sent three months before criminal charges were filed against Cosby in Montgomery County in December, and could call into question the viability of the case, CNN has learned.
In it, Castor writes to Ferman: “I can see no possibility that Cosby’s deposition could be used in a state criminal case, because I would have to testify as to what happened, and the deposition would be subject to suppression.
“I cannot believe any state court judge would allow that deposition into evidence. …. Knowing this, unless you can make out a case without that deposition and without anything the deposition led you to, I think Cosby would have an action against the County and maybe even against you personally.”rospect of Cos
The deposition is a key piece of evidence, cited by prosecutors as the impetus for reopening the case.
At the center of the case are allegations made by Constand, a former Temple University basketball employee, who says Cosby sexually assaulted her in his home in 2004.
Dolores Troiani, an attorney for Constand in 2005, told CNN’s Jean Casarez on Friday that she never knew about any such agreement between Cosby’s attorneys and prosecutors.
Castor, when asked by CNN about the email, declined to comment.
The current district attorney, Kevin Steele, who was elected in November after serving as Ferman’s longtime top deputy, told CNN on Friday: “There is a specific legal method to grant immunity. That was not done in 2005.”
Steele also noted that in Castor’s 2005 press release declaring there was insufficient evidence to prosecute Cosby that Castor himself said he would “reconsider this decision should the need arise.”by invoking his 5th Amendment right.

Metuh transferred N21m to Anenih, EFCC alleges
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has said that a former Chairman, Board of Trustees (BOT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Anthony Anenih, benefited from the N400million allegedly received by the party’s spokesman, Olisa Metuh.
EFCC accused Metuh of receiving the N400m from “an unlawful activity” of the immediate past National Security Adviser (NSA), Mohammed Sambo Dasuki.
The commission said its investigation also revealed that Metuh allegedly transferred $2million, through one of his agents, Nneka Nicole Ararume, to Sie Iyenome and Kabiru Ibrahim of Capital Field Investment, an organisation it found not to be a financial institution.
These are contained in a seven-count charge marked: FHC/ABJ/CR/05/2016, filed yesterday by EFCC, against Metuh and his company – Destra Investment s Limited – before the Federal High Court, Abuja.
The EFCC was silent on why Metuh gave Anenih N21,776,000 and for what purpose.
The commission, which was also silent on what investment Metuh made with the $1m, said it will lead evidence to that effect at trial.
EFCC’s lawyer Rotimi Jacobs (SAN) said the commission will arraign Metuh on the charge once the court indicates its readiness.
Also yesterday, Justice Okon Abang of the Fedarl High Court, Abuja rejected
Metuh’s application to compel the EFCC to immediately respond to his fundermental rights enforcement suit.
Justice Abang, in a ruling, said the Fundamental Rights Enforcement Procedure Rules allow a respondent five days to respond.
He rejected the application by Metuh’s lawyer, Ifedayo Adedipe (SAN), to abridge the time within which the EFCC could file its response to his (Metuh’s) suit.
Count one of the charge reads: “That you, Olisa Metuh and Destra Investments Ltd on or about November 24, 2014 in Abuja within the jurisdiction of this honourable court took possession of the sum of N400m paid into the account of Destra Investments Ltd with Diamond Bank Plc account number 0040437573 from the account of the Office of the National Security Adviser with the Central Bank of Nigeria without contract award when you reasonably ought to have known that the said fund formed part of the proceeds of an unlawful activity of Colonel Mohammed Sambo Dasuki (retd), the then National Security Adviser to wit: criminal breach of trust and corruption and thereby committed an offence contrary to section 15(2)(d) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act 2011 (as amended in 2012) and punishable under section 15(3) of the same Act.
Metuh and his company are in count two accused of Converting the “N400m which sum was transferred from the account of the Office of the National Security Adviser with the Central Bank of Nigeria without contract award, which you claim to have received for political activities of the Peoples Democratic Party when you reasonably ought to have known that the said funds form part of an unlawful activity of Colonel Mohammed Sambo Dasuki (retd), the then National Security Adviser (to wit: criminal breach of trust and corruption and thereby committed an offence to Section 15(2) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act 2011 (as amended in 2012) and punishable under Section 15(3) of the same ýAct.”
They are in count three accused of retaining the N400m “on behalf of PDP for its campaign activities by concealing the fund in your ýaccount with Diamond Bank Plc when ought to have known that such funds form part of an unlawful activity of Colonel Mohammed Sambo Dasuki (retd), the then National Security Adviser (to wit: criminal breach of trust and corruption) and you thereby committed an offence contrary to section 17(a) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act 2011 (as amended in 2012)”
They are in count four said to have “sometime between November 2014 and March 2015 in Abuja within the jurisdiction of this honourable court, having reason to know that an aggregate sum of N400m, directly represented ýproceeds of an unlawful activity of Colonel Mohammed Sambo Dasuki (retd), the then National Security Adviser (to wit: criminal breach of trust and corruption) in respect of the said amount used the said fund for the campaign activities of the Peoples Democratic Party and other purposes and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 15(2)(d) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act, 2011 as amended in 2012 and punishable under Section 15(3) and (4) of the same Act.”
Metuh and his company are accused, in count five, of making a cash payment of $1m around December 2, 2014 “through your agent, Nneka Nicole Ararume, to one Kabiru Ibrahim of Capital Field Investments, a non-financial institution, and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 1 of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act 2011 (as amended in 2012) and punishable under Section 16(2)(b) of the same Act”.
In count six, the duo are accused of making “a cash payment, through your agent, Nicole Ararume, to one Sie Iyenome of Capital Field Investment, to the tune of $1m and thereby committed an offence contrary to section 1 of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act as amended in 2012 and punishable under section 16(2)(b) of the same Act”
In count seven, the duo are said to have transferred “N21,776,000, being part of the sum of N400m which directly represented the unlawful activity of Colonel Mohammed Sambo Dasuki, the then National Security Adviser, to wit: breach of trust and corruption, to Chief Tony Anenih and thereby committed an offence contrary to section 15(2) (b) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act, 2011 (as amended in 2012 and punishable under section 15(3) of the same Act.”
In an earlier proceedings, Justice Abang, after listening to arguments from Adedipe and Jacobs, in relation whether he could abridge the time for EFCC to respond to Metuh’s fundamental rights application, held that Adedipe was wrong to have attempted to stampede the EFCC to respond to Metuh’s suit.
The judge observed that since the law allows a respondent in a fundamental rights application to respond within five days, his court could not compel the EFCC to respond before the five days, having been served on January 13.
The judge, in a ruling, allowed EFCC to have its five days and adjourned till January 20 for the hearing of Metuh’s main fundamental rights enforcement suit.

I'm not arrogant as people think, says Kwam 1
Fuji icon, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal is a respected Fuji musician who has done well for himself in the music industry. He recently cleared the air about several rumours milling around town about his person
How do you take public perception about you? Some believe Alhaji is arrogant, others believe you are tough and a no nonsense man. Do you hear hear these comments too? Who is real Alhaji?
Yes, I hear these comments. But I know it is because people don’t know me. People only see me at shows, on TV but they don’t know me, and they don’t know the real K1. There is K1 the musician, K1 the father and family man, K1 the politician, K1 the business man and K1 the star to mention only a few sides. They are different people. Unfortunately, the whole of the people cannot know you. Once I enter here and I close my doors, it is a different K1 that is in here, you won’t believe it. I also don’t expect all the people to know you or follow you or see you from the right perspective that you are trying to place yourself. Some know you but still ignore you, like they don’t see you. They choose to see what they want to see. I don’t get to react to what people say or how they feel about me.I let people form there opinion. But where it is necessary for me to come in and correct some misconceptions, I will. You can’t convince people by word of mouth, or by your action alone. Let other people speak for you too. I let people know me, speak for me too. And people do that. If you are able to correct 2 or 3 people around you, they will in turn correct others. They will say nooo. K1 is not like that. SK is my friend, he knows him and he says his not like that ooo. And the word would spread like that. You can’t be good to everybody at all times. Those who don’t like you, won’t like you, no matter what you say or do. How can you begin to bend your purpose or rule for everyone, it’s not done? I am not rigid. If I see reason with you view point, I will bow to superior reasoning. If you try to want to be good to everybody, you’ll get bad. Some for a reason will not want to acknowledge seeing the good side of you. They are just like that. They feel there is no big deal for them to appreciate your good sides. They don’t care. All they want to do is to judge you. Whereas some would see some small good thing about you and acknowledge it and they will say keep it up. So I don’t get to react sometimes. I see it as a price to pay for being popular. There are times I read somethings about myself in the papers that are not true and I laugh it off. Some, I correct at times. But really, how many wrong things that are written do I want to correct? The beauty of it is as much as some see the mistakes in what am doing. Others see the good sides to it. The whole world can’t really like you and the whole world can’t really condemn you as well. And the truth is K1 is human. Wasiu Is a human being and he has the good, the bad and ugly side just like every great man who has lived in history.
Are you truly not too tough and uncompromising at times
It is only those ones that are totally bad that will not accept you for what you have. I have had to bend my rules several times for people. You can’t be in the kind of job I do, where you meet all sorts of people daily and not bend backwards at times to accommodate either in terms of their not fulfilling promises, not keeping to their time, or they asking you for favour which ordinarily you won’t grant but you find yourself doing it for them.
I am not trained to lie. That is why I hate liars. I can never like you if you meet me for the first time and I find out you lie. You and I can never get on. We can’t be on the same page if you are a liar. We can only be friends if you accept to change. And no liars change. Appearance shows the man. When people criticise me that I always act according to my mind or that my mind is formed in a way, it is to be expected. I like to live structured life and I cannot change. I maybe a musician. I maybe a showbiz person but in the midst of all these, I have my principles that I cherished I cannot change. People should not even bother to change me. Accept me the way you see me. That is what is called understanding. I thank people for whatever they do to me. When you do well for me I say thank you and when you do bad things I also say thank you. I leave it to your conscience to ask yourself if you deserve the thank you. I am just like that, I can’t change. But I try as much as possible, to blend, to tolerate people to some extent. People ask me why I live in Ijebu-Ode, it’s because it’s peaceful. Ijebu-Ode people don’t disturb me. They see me as added value, as pride. The same thing when I go to Ibadan, they are so accommodating of me. But if I go to places where they don’t welcome, I will just do my business quickly, play and entertain those who invited me and leave. I will tolerate the situation and manage it. I’m a deep thinker and I am good at analyzing situations, so I know how to read the situations of things.
Tell us more about your Lekki house, Have you finally moved in
The time is not right to talk about that. There is nothing that I do that people will not definitely know about. The truth of the matter is that I live here in Ijebu-Ode. I only go to places like Lagos, Ibadan, Akure, and Abeokuta to work. This is home for me. I will leave it at that. Yes, I also have a house in Lekki. But the truth is that i live everywhere now. I have a house in Canada, America. But, where did you meet me now? Ijebu-Ode. I don’t want to change my base. In Ijebu. It is central to going round the South West. But I have a house in Lekki.
When is your next album coming out
Yes, I write it down long hand. I write songs a lot. I still do. I also keep it on tape. That is what my mini-studio is for. I go in there to record it down. I run it and run it again and I balance it. When I am okay with it, I call people to come and listen to it and we would fix it how we want it fixed

It is expected to be a star-studded party and records hordes of eminent Nigerians in attendance who will be on ground to commemorate with Oba Adeyemi. Activities to mark the day had kicked off last year November in the United Kingdom When Alaafin of Oyo visited London to kick off celebration where was well received and honoured by the happening crowd and the British Empire. The visit also provided a rare and golden opportunity for Yorubas across the globe to meet and tap from Alaafin Iku Baba Yeye’s wealth of enormous cultural endowment. An uncommon gift many custodians of tradition and culture are devoid of. Every 14th of January is the day of the official investiture of the Alaafin. November 18, 1970, was the actual day Prince Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi was consecrated as the Alaafin of Oyo Empire by Colonel Adeyinka Adebayo, Governor of the old Western Region. It was the day Oba Adeyemi was invested with the insignia of royalty, on his succeeding to the Sovereignty. This was shortly after the Nigerian civil war.

Ashimolowo to Buhari: Looters deserve only 20% of your time
President Muhammadu Buhari has been advised to adopt the Pareto’s Principle in governance, where just 20 per cent of governance time is dedicated to the past, “otherwise, it will take forever for majority of Nigerians to see changes.”Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo, Senior Pastor of Kingsway International Christian Centre, KICC, who gave the advice, said going by Parento’s Principle, the Federal Government should dedicate 20 per cent of its resources to going after perceived looters, while 80 per cent should be given to creating an enabling environment for Nigerians.
Speaking to journalists at the 10th edition of the annual widows New Year party in Ode-Omu, Osun State, he said: “President
Buhari is a man of great integrity, who wants the best for the country. But if he spends all his time pursuing looters, the majority of us who did not steal will suffer.
“Therefore, he must use the Parento’s Principle to approach governance. If you have your eyes permanently on the rear view mirror, you cannot drive fast. The past deserves just 20 per cent attention.”

Adadevoh family to filmakers: We didnt give you approval on late Dr. Stella
The family of the late physician, Dr. Stella Adadevoh, has threatened to take a legal action against the makers of 93 Days, a movie dedicated to the memory of Ebola victims and survivors in the country.
In a letter issued by Dr. Ama Adadevoh on behalf of the Cardosos and the Adadevohs in Lagos on Monday, the families faulted some claims by the filmmakers that were reflected in the yet-to- be released movie.
The families noted that even though the script was given to both families for approval, it claimed that some aspects of the movie did not represent the true accounts and role of the late physician during the Ebola outbreak.
Adadevoh stated, "It has been brought to our attention that a movie titled, 93 Days, written by Paul .S. Rowlston and produced by Native Filmworks, Michelangelo Productions and Bolanle Austin-Peters Productions, is in works for imminent release. The movie about Nigeria’s Ebola story and "dedicated to" Dr. Ameyo Stella Adadevoh was not endorsed by the family.
"The Adadevoh and Cardoso families have not consented to the use of the Stella Adadevoh’s name, likeness or image for commercial profit. The families intend to hold the filmmakers legally accountable for any falsehoods and innuendos in the movie, 93 Days with regard to Dr. Adadevoh and her family."
The families stated that they were committed to ensuring that the true story that pertains to the late physician was told to the public.
Adadevoh was the first Nigerian to have died of Ebola after contracting it from an American-Liberian diplomat, Patrick Sawyer.
She raised the red flag about the viral disease after Sawyer was admitted at the First Consultants Hospital, Obalende, Lagos.
Lagos State commences transformation of Oshodi, relocates traders
The Lagos State Government has shut the Owonifari market within the notorious loop of Oshodi and relocated affected traders and shop owners to the newly built Isopakodowo market stalls at Bolade area in Oshodi.
The government has also commenced the fencing-off of the set-back on Agege Motor Road that stretches from Ilupeju end of Oshodi all the way to the PWD/Ikeja GRA end of the area.
In a statement signed by the State’s Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Steve Ayorinde, the move is geared towards the need to sanitize and beautify the entire Oshodi area and bring transformation, in particular, to the Owonifari loop as well as the entire bus stop terminals, which have somewhat constituted a menace and an eyesore within the locality.
According to the statement, the Owonifari loop will be transformed into an ultra modern bus terminus with new bus shelters that are befitting of a structured park in a mega city.
It added that the fencing-off of the long stretch of the set-back is being undertaken to assist the Federal Government and the Nigerian Railway Corporation in particular with a view to beautifying it and safeguard lives along the railway corridor by discouraging street trading and indiscriminate use of the space.
Ayorinde said the ongoing fencing-off and beautification of the road set-back from Ilupeju bypass to PWD/Ikeja GRA would constitute the first phase of the transformation of the Oshodi area. The second phase, he added, would begin from PWD/Ikeja GRA and stretch all the way to Agege/Pen cinema axis.
He stated further that Lagosians should expect from this transformation exercise, a new Oshodi that will be sane and safe and where both traders and commuters would be pleased to visit and trade. He assured that the traders being relocated have been properly allocated shops within the Isopakodowo market and that the demolition of the loop is in the best interest of the people who should expect a world-class bus terminus there.
The commissioner reiterated Governor Akinwunmi Ambode’s commitment to bring development to every area of the state.
He therefore urged the Local Council Development Areas and other stakeholders to cooperate with the State Government in achieving the governor’s vision of making the 2016 budget work for every citizen in the state.

"I don't run personal Facebook"-Apostle Johnson Suleman
Man of God and the head preacher at Omega Fire & Miracles Ministries, Apostle Johnson Suleman, has alerted the public on the antics of some unscrupulous elements who have been operating Facebook accounts in his name, thereby dissociating himself and ministry from their activities.
Speaking today immediately after the church's annual end-of-the-year mega miracle crusade tagged 'Operation Jabez', the Oracle of God as Suleman is popularly called, warned the public not to buy into the Facebook frauds because he has never operated one personally except the one being run by his ministry's television arm, Celebration TV, and which does not carry his name.
"I don't run Facebook as a person. I have never done that. But there is the one being used by OFM's Celebration TV and it doesn't carry my name.
I understand that people are being duped of huge sums of money. So, if anyone says he is Apostle Johnson Suleman of OFM on Facebook, he is a fraud. No one is asked to run a Facebook account in my name", warns the man of God who is in high preparation for today, December 31, 2015's power-packed 'Crossover Night', which runs into the early hours of the New Year.
