Cleric Laments State Of Nigeria At 55

A cleric on Sunday during a church service accused the country’s leaders, both past and present of contributing to the dwindling fortunes of the country.

Rev. Dapo Asaju spoke in a sermon he delivered at St. Peter’s Cathedral Church, Abeokuta, Ogun State capital entitled: "Nigeria in the eyes and hands of God," to mark the 55th anniversary of Nigeria’s Independence.

He lamented that in spite of all resources available since the existence of Nigeria, "a number of crooks calling themselves leaders have continued to destroy the prospects of the country."

"You see them going about with bullet proof, bullet proof can only protect you, but cannot protect you from bullet of God. If you see a leader who takes a loan that cannot be offset during his tenure, that leader is only impoverishing the future of our children".
