Senate recieves Buhari 's ministerial nominees second list

 Fresh information coming in has revealed that President Muhammadu Buhari has forwarded a second batch of ministerial nominees to the Senate.
Mr. Buhari sent the list this afternoon.

The Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari, submitted the list to the President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki.

The president had, on Thursday, September 30, sent the first batch which comprised 21 nominees.

The second batch, according to a source, has 15 names.

The Nigerian Constitution requires at least one minister to be named from each of the 36 states of the federation.

Vincent Enyeama returned to Belgium (Brussels) early yesterday (Saturday) and met with NFF leadership to discuss all issues. He was remorseful and stated really what irked him was the removal as captain without first having a private conversation with the coach which is what he expected.
His attention was drawn to the fact that when he was appointed captain neither the coach or NFF had any private conversation with him thus this shouldn't be an issue as a professional. Serious advice were offered to guide him going forward and the decision of the coach including how the coach intervened on behalf of Enyeama to get the NFF to drop the disciplinary hearing after the Kaduna issues were all explained to him.
Enyeama too offered his own side. He has realized his mistakes and he has spoke to coach Oliseh (via phone as the team was in a different hotel). They both laughed over the issues. Enyeama indeed expressed his firm commitment for the good of Nigeria and has confirmed that his interest is to support/motivate the young ones in the team and thus he has been speaking to AHMED Musa to advise/guide him in his new role as captain to ensure the team does well.
After all seemed settled and everyone was laughing, they had lunch and Enyeama returned to France (note it's about 3-4 hours drive or less, from France to Belgium depending on the city) and promised to make a decision soon whether to call off his retirement or not.
The NFF big wigs also spoke to his wife via Skype and thanked her for being by her husband.They also invited her and Enyeama back to Belgium today to watch the Cameroon game at NFF cost, all as part of the process to smoothen issues.

Buhari’s Govt. Caused Alamieyeseigha’s Death- Fayose

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has described the death of
former Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Diepreye Alamieyeseigha as
painful and unfortunate, saying; “It is painful that the All
Progressives Congress (APC) led Federal Government finally succeeded
in hounding an Ijaw leader to death just because of his staunch stance
on the upcoming Bayelsa State governorship election.”
Reacting to Alamieyeseigha’s death through his Special Assistant on
Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, the governor
commiserated with the deceased family, former President, Dr Goodluck
Jonathan as well as the Governor of Bayelsa State, Hon Seriake Dickson
and the entire people of the State.
The governor, who prayed for the repose of the soul of the late former
Governor-General of the Ijaw Nation, said his death was “an eclipse of
a political figure, who despite all political odds, still commanded
great respect from his people.”
hile blaming the Federal Government for his death, Governor Fayose
said; “Obviously, the Federal Government was behind the plot to
extradite the Alamieyeseigha to the United Kingdom to face fresh
trial, a situation that made him to abandon his medical treatment in
Dubai.
“Even though I am not against anti-corruption fight, it is painful
that in the present day Nigeria, political vendetta is being allowed
to override the sovereignty of the country, such that the Presidency
was eager to release to a foreign country, a citizen of Nigeria that
had been tried, convicted and later pardoned in accordance with the
laws of the country. Having been tried and convicted eight years ago, served his sentence
and forfeited properties to the Bayelsa State Government; methinks
Alamieyeseigha should have been allowed to live his life without
unnecessary political intimidation and harassment.
“I have consistently asked them why they have closed their eyes to the
corruption allegations against their own people. Why is their
attention only on people from the Southern part of Nigeria? And now
that Alamieyeseigha has been hounded and harassed to death, what else
can the apostles of political vendetta do?
“My prayer is that God in His infinite mercies will console the
entire Alamieyeseigha’s family and the people of Bayelsa State,
especially members of our great party, the PDP and also grant them the
fortitude to bear this sad and painful loss.”

Former Governor of Bayelsa State, Diepriye Alamieyeseigha is dead, Prime News can authoritatively report.

According to a family source , " the former Governor had been ill, leading to the failure of his two kidneys."

"After several hours in coma, Alamieyeseigha passed on on Saturday afternoon" the source added.

Ogun tribunal sacks Kashamu

                    
The National and state Assembly Elections Petition Tribunal sitting in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Friday nullified the election of the Senator representing Ogun East Senatorial district, Prince Buruji Kashamu,over non-compliance with electoral law.

The three- man panel headed by Justice Ebiowei Tobi while delivering judgement, ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a fresh election in 110 polling units in the Senatorial district within 90 days.

The petition challenging Kashamu’s victory in the March 28 National Assembly elections, was filed by the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prince Dapo Abiodun.

Kashamu represented the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the election.

 

Ambode moves to light-up Lagos by December

                     
Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, has initiated moves to fulfill one of his campaign promises to illuminate all nooks and crannies of communities and adjourning boundaries in the state before the end of the year.

This was made known on Thursday at a joint press briefing by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Public Works Corporation and Lagos State Electricity Board, as a follow up to the promise of Governor Ambode, during the maiden Town Hall Meeting held at Ayobo Ipaja, last Tuesday.

Addressing newsmen, Acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Mr. Taofeek Fashola, said efforts are in top gear to illuminate major roads in the state, including all adjourning boundaries in Ogun State, including Federal and State roads.

He said that the work would be delivered in phases, starting with Ikorodu to the Lagos Island, Ojodu Berger to Lagos Island and in addition, about 67 communities in Ibeju Lekki, which have been in darkness for about five years, will be connected to the national grid.

"Berger to Lagos, Ikorodu to Lagos Street light installing is ongoing. We have developed agreement to ensure safe and reliable power. We would be illuminating from Berger to Lagos. Ikorodu to Lagos. We are working with those contractors that are versed on the job and everything would be done latest by December," Williams said.

Also speaking, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Energy, Mr. Deji Williams, said government is set to connect street lights from Ikorodu to Lagos Island to an Independent Power Plant (IPP), adding that the government is currently carrying out feasibility study of how to structure and determine the best points of contact to connect the street lights on the entire axis.

Williams also revealed that the government is considering involving the private sector in the maintenance aspect through outsourcing of the street lights, specifying that the present administration in Lagos has prioritized illuminating all roads in the state.

He said that in line with the Governor‘s directive, most part of the metropolis should be lit-up by December, thus involving contractors well versed in the job.

"All these we are doing by engaging well versed contractors that are grounded on the job to ensure everything is ready by December," Williams said.

Head of Power in the Ministry, Engineer Ibilola Kasumu, said that the third phase of the project is the electrification of the Ibeju Lekki axis, adding that 67 communities have been in darkness in the area for the past five years.

She said efforts are in top gear to extend power from the grid to the areas, beginning from Ibeju Lekki area, Magbon Alade, Ode-Omi and its adjourning areas, assuring that before the end of the year all the projects would be completed.
