Otunba Gani Adams mourns Adebayo Faleti
The National
Coordinator, Oodua People’s Congress ( OPC) and Convener of the
global yoruba movement, Oodua Progressive Union( OPU), Otunba Gani Adams
has described the late scholar and writer, Pa Adebayo Faleti
"as a true and thorough Oodua breed who imbibed early and exhibited
the Omoluabi traits till the end".
Condoling with the family of the
late writer in particular and Yoruba people in general via a statement issued by
his Publicity Secretary, Bar. Yinka Oguntimehin in Lagos on Wednesday,
Adams who extolled the virtues of the late Pa Faleti commended him for his role
as a good custodian of the Yoruba culture, adding that the late artist
did his best in ensuring that the Yoruba culture continue to maintain its
enviable place of uniqueness.
Adams who said he received news of
the demise of Pa Faleti with mixed feelings said "even though it was
painful losing an institution like Baba, whom i would have loved to still see
around longer than now, yet, i give God the glory for keeping him around for
about 90 eventful and productive years which many can bear testimony he
virtually lived for the establishment and promotion of the yoruba arts and
culture”
According to the OPC leader, Pa
Faleti could be said to have ran a good race and fulfilled his destiny because
he was able to make his mark "not just as a Yoruba scholar, but as an
exemplary father whose handiwork would speak for till the end of time"
Admonishing Odua children to take a
cue from the late Faleti by promoting the Yoruba culture, Otunba Adams
canvassed that Nigerians of the Oduduwa stock at home and the diaspora should
not shy away from the responsibility of ensuring the Yoruba nation takes its
place by supporting every effort that will unite her citizen and promote
her culture and cause.
"It is a thing of pride to be a
yoruba man or woman, it is also a virtuous thing to be an entrenched yoruba
native who will not hesitate to promote the Yoruba culture and ideals,
irrespective of position and status."It is my fervent prayer that
God will give us the fortitude to bear the colossal loss of the departed,
as well as give us the courage to promote the Yoruba culture, even beyond
where Pa Faleti would have envisaged if he was alive" the statement
concluded.

Sterling Bank Manager, Elliot Abiodun In Alleged $110,000 Theft Scandal
A Sterling bank manager, Elliot Abiodun, who allegedly stole $110,000 (N40 million) from Sterling Bank, was on Friday arraigned before an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
Abiodun, is standing trial on a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and stealing.
The Prosecutor, Friday Mameh, told the court that the accused committed the offences on June 3, at 10 a.m. in Lagos.
He said the accused stole the $110,000 property of Sterling Bank Plc.
The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 287(8) and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos, 2015.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Counsel to the accused, T.J. Agoro, urged the court to grant his client bail.
Agoro told the court that he would stand surety for the accused and ensure that he showed up in court till the determination of the case.
The Magistrate, O. A. Olagbende, released the accused to his counsel on the grounds that the lawyer would ensure that the accused attends court’s proceedings.
The Magistrate adjourned the case until September 19 for mention.
urthermore he said is not a day operation and that the bank should surmmon all those in the ICT department, that without them the operation can’t be perfected.
GTBank Leadership Tussle Deepens
The bank’s destiny had hinged on the tripod stand-the three owners. The handwriting had been on the wall only that it has cleverly been whittled down amicably by concerned friends, colleagues and associates of the principal actors in the current emerging leadership crisis that are threatening to rock the very foundation of the thriving financial institution, Guarantee Trust Bank Plc.
The assumption in many circles is that, Agbaje who joined the bank in 1991 as a foundation staff, and rose rapidly to executive directorship status before ultimately assuming the head honcho rank, couldn’t have been muscling much executive powers to the detriment of the founding partners, whether dead or alive. But as the internal wrangling raged on, albeit in under currents and silently being handled by the concerned parties, the little Oluwatishe Aderionokun court case has simply shown that the matter is far from being settled, as it has opened up more wounds than closed them up. Contemptuous as the case may be now, observers in the financial circuit are beginning to read a riot act from different corners of the divide. With the tenure of Agbaje gradually coming to a statutory end as the MD, some senior staffers of the bank who are presumably not in sync with Agbaje’s management style, are already planning to turn in their resignation, before the long arm of Agbaje catches up with them in the unfolding super power tussle in the bank.
Their assumed contention is that Agbaje may use them as the sacrificial lamb by checking them out, within his executive powers, before his tenure lapses. On the other hand, the de facto founder of the bank, Adeola, is allegedly also not said to be taking the matter lightly, since he might probably have an upper hand in who succeeds Agbaje, and as such, might bring on someone who will come in to come and clean the Augean stable, purportedly created by Agbaje.
Invariably, the next MD might be used by Adeola to equally flush out known disciples of Agbaje upon his exit. The situation also might get more complex, if going by rotation, the next MD after Agbaje’s successor will automatically come from the Aderionkun nest, and the witch-hunting exercise might just continue. Perhaps this is why the case of little Oluwatishe is not being taken with kids’ gloves by her mother, Mrs. Salamotu Aderionkun.
Sources believe that if the substance and grounds of the case are decided in their favour, then the substantial shares of Aderinokun’s in the bank will stand them in good stead for a deciding factor in critical decisive matters that concern who gets what in the bank, especially when it comes to the turn of the next CEO of the bank at the appointed time.
All these are still conjectural, but industry watchers remain undaunted in their belief that this is where the rather unpleasant matter is grinding to, and the verdict or judgment of the Federal High Court will go a long way in giving a breather to the scenario. Financial experts are also trite in their aversion that this is common in many jointly-financed companies, as the death of one or more principal founders/partners often leads to premature or total collapse of the organization. For the records and even to whet your appetite on how the whole unpleasant matter reared its ugly head, certain faceless people and rabble-rousers had years back gone to town with the unfounded rumour that there was no love lost between Adeola and Agbaje. They had claimed then that the two financial guru were dangerously poised to tear at each other like loaded guns. They predicated their argument on the frosty relationship that ensued between Adeola and late Tayo Aderinokun with whom he founded the bank. The duo allegedly fell out with each other and subsequently related like cat and dog until Aderinokun unfortunately passed away. Agbaje however, incurred Adeola’s detest, courtesy his known chummy relationship with late Aderinokun. The current GTBank M.D was very close to Adeola’s late partner and thus became his foe by default. No sooner did Aderinokun die, did Adeola and Agbaje acknowledge their undisguised contempt for each other, they claimed.
The relationship between Adeola and Agbaje has reportedly deteriorated to the extent that there are fears in high-powered circuits of the banking sector that if eventually Adeola succeeds Godwin Emefiele as the CBN governor, as it was being touted then, he would gun for Agbaje, subject him to a tough inquiry and make mincemeat of him. For now, no one knows where the matter will gravitate to but the tell tales of an imminent cold war among principal stakeholders are daily being relayed within the bank. It is that unsavoury for the once ‘guaranteed bank’ whose esteemed customers might be the ultimate end-losers if the unexpected happens.

We should celebrate Faleti, not mourn — Soyinka, minister, Aregbesola
Nobel laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka; the Minister of Information and
Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed; Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State and
a former governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, have described
the death of renowned author, poet, broadcaster and actor, Pa Adebayo
Faleti, as a huge loss to the country’s creative sector in particular
and to the entire nation in general. They said the deceased should be celebrated and not mourned.
Reacting to Faleti’s death, Soyinka said
it was unfortunate that the deceased died a few days after another
literary icon, Prof. Abiola Irele, died.
He said, “So soon after Abiola Irele,
another pillar of the Shrine of Letters, succumbs to the exigencies of
Time and leaves our horizon cloudy.
“Adebayo Faleti was a pioneer in
virtually every genre of literary creativity, and its expansion. No one
should have been surprised to watch him lift the level of acting in the
flush of Nigerian films, with his studied, subtle character portrayals.
“Yoruba scholarship owes him much, and
will honour him befittingly. More importantly is that he leaves for us
memories of his unassuming presence which so richly embodied the
expression, ‘Still waters run deep’.”
The minister, in a statement in Abuja on
Monday, said Faleti was a trailblazer and a colossus, who left an
indelible footprint in the Nigerian landscape.
Mohammed said generations of authors,
poets, broadcasters and actors “owe Pa Faleti a debt of gratitude for
his dedication, hard work and love of country.”
Mohammed commiserated with the family
and friends of the departed as well as all practitioners in the sector.
He prayed that God would comfort them and grant repose to the soul of
the departed.
Also, Aregbesola, on Monday, said he
received with sadness, news of the death of Faleti, who he described as
one of Nigeria’s gifted scholars, culture icons, nationalists and
top-on-the-shelf dramatists.
In a statement by his Director of
Bureau of Communication and Strategy, Semiu Okanlawon, Aregbesola said
the death of the playwright, theatre director and teacher was a huge
loss not only to the creative world but also to the world of Yoruba
language and culture heritage which he promoted till his death.
The governor described Faleti as a
“complete man of the theatre — an actor, director, choreographer and
designer — who created performance spaces influenced by traditional
architectural forms.”
Reacting to Faleti’s death, Soyinka said
it was unfortunate that the deceased died a few days after another
literary icon, Prof. Abiola Irele, died.
He said, “So soon after Abiola Irele,

“complete man of the theatre — an actor, director, choreographer and
designer — who created performance spaces influenced by traditional
architectural forms.”
Aregbesola said the late writer and
dramatist contributed immensely to the promotion and advocacy of Yoruba
Language and well as its culture.
He noted that the appearance and
dressing of Faleti spoke volumes of his origin and he was always ready
to advocate the promotion of Yoruba language and culture.
He stated that the exit of Faleti would certainly create a yawning gap in the theatre and cultural world.
The governor stated, “The death of Pa
Adebayo Faleti is a huge loss in so many ways. His death is a big blow
to the theatre and entertainment circle, a big blow to the cultural
world as well as to the Yoruba language community.
“His appearance and personality attested
to the promotion of Omoluabi ethos the Yoruba people are known for and
which the State of Osun stands for and promotes in all facets of human
endeavours.
“Faleti exemplified the advocacy for and
exhibition of Yoruba language and culture in his writings and on stage
particularly with one of his celebrated novels, Won ro pe Were ni.
“Thespian of a first-class mold and a
cultural ambassador, Faleti will not be forgotten for his immense
patriotism and sincere commitment to a better Nigeria and promotion and
contributions to Yoruba language and culture.”
In its own statement signed by its
Publicity Secretary, the Afenifere Renewal Group said the life of
dedication and commitment that Adebayo Faleti lived should be celebrated
and raised as compass for the youth to follow.
The group said while the renowned actor
and broadcast manager would be missed as an unparalleled repository of
Yoruba culture, his footprints in the annals of Yoruba culture should be
celebrated and preserved.
Famoriyo said Faleti was always willing to participate in anything that would promote Yoruba culture and language.
He added that even in his old age, he
offered himself as a pioneer member of the Board of Directors of the
Yoruba Academy, a cultural think-tank established by the ARG.
In his own reaction, Daniel, in a
statement by his Media Officer, Ayo Giwa, expressed shock on the death
of Faleti, who he described as a rare gem and an uncommon individual.Daniel stated that the late Faleti was a man of many parts who equally
excelled in his career as a poet, journalists, writer, translator,
broadcaster and TV exponent.

UBA Foundation Takes its Read Africa Initiative East
The
United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc, through its Corporate Social
Responsibility arm, the UBA Foundation, continued on its quest to
educate and empower African youths as it visited Our
Lady of Mercy Girls Secondary School in Nairobi to donate over 500
copies of the book
The Fishermen(by Chigozie Obioma), under the UBA Foundation’s Read Africa Initiative.
The
initiative which was launched in 2011 with the aim of encouraging
students to improve their vocabulary and communication skills through
reading, has been changing the lives of African
students across the continent for six years. Through the initiative,
the UBA Foundation is helping rekindle the dwindling reading culture
amongst African youths as they pursue their education. Over a hundred
thousand books and educational materials have been
donated to various schools across Africa as UBA Foundation continues to
traverse the continent, contributing positively to the development of
African youths.
This
week, the foundation visited Emma High School in Kampala, Uganda with
its Read Africa initiative before going to Kenya to read to the students
at Our Lady of our Mercy School. The
High school for girls which was founded in 2008 by Mrs Angwenyi with
just 32 girls has grown into a student body of over 500 with donations
from both private individuals and the Kenyan Ministry of Education. The
school started off with girls who were very
under priviledged and living in conditions that were not conducive to
education. Less than a decade later, some of these students have gone on
to Universities to pursue their dreams.
Present
at the drive were the CEO of the UBA Foundation, Bola Atta, UBA Kenya
MD/CEO Isaac Mwige, the school principle Mrs Angwenyi and the students
who got an opportunity to interact
and read with the UBA Executives, sharing their future aspirations and
ambitions as they engaged Executives in a Q& A session.
Atta,
told the students that the UBA Foundation was committed to uplifting
the lives of the societies within which they operated by
creating dynamic educational platforms for future generations
on the continent. She also encouraged the students to read voraciously.
“The pursuit of knowledge should be a lifelong activity that starts at a
very young age. You should read all types of books so that you can
explore and shape your own narrative,” she said.
UBA Managing Director/CEO Isaac Mwige further encouraged the students to cultivate an interest in reading not just the academic text books but also material outside of their course work
in order to acquire knowledge. “Everything you read fills your head with new bits of information, and you never know when it might come in handy.
The more knowledge you have, the better-equipped you are to tackle any challenge you'll ever face,” he added.
The
Principal of Our Lady of Mercy Girls Secondary School Mrs. Angwenyi
thanked the UBA Foundation for their contribution and said that it was
very timely as the school is currently placing
emphasis on the value of reading not just to prepare for exams but
reading to prepare for life. ‘What UBA Foundation has brought to you
today is worth more than money. The drive today will ensure that you all
understand that reading is an essential part of
living’ she said.
The
Kenyan Ministry of Education’s Chief Education Officer who was also
present applauded the initiative saying: ’books allow us to expand our
minds and enables us to keep
abreast in all fields of human endeavor. The Students of Our Lady of
our Mercy will benefit greatly from reading the books donated by UBA

Arsenal hit by food poisoning in China
Arsenal were ravaged by food poisoning in Shanghai that ruled several key players out of their preseason friendly with Bayern Munich on Wednesday, manager Arsene Wenger said.
The Frenchman revealed the sickness that had swept the Arsenal camp, coupled with the severe heat in China and long flights, made for far-from-ideal preparations for another taxing campaign.
Wenger was shorn of Olivier Giroud because of food poisoning, then captain Per Mertesacker pulled out of the game just moments before kick-off because he too fell ill with the same problem.
New signing Sead Kolasinac also had to come off before the break, while Aaron Ramsey and Theo Walcott were only substitutes because they were sick.
Wenger’s ailing men were outplayed for long periods by Bayern before salvaging a last-gasp 1-1 draw and then winning 3-2 on penalties.
Arsenal were particularly poor in the first half in the 36 degrees Celsius (97F) heat and Wenger admitted that the extreme conditions in Shanghai were “a shock” after flying in from Australia, which is in its winter.
“I was a bit scared that tonight we could have big problems and in fact in the first half we suffered a bit,” said Wenger, under pressure to get Arsenal back in the Champions League this season.
“Ramsey finished the game, but Walcott, Kolasinac, Mertesacker, Giroud, they all had a little food poisoning.”
Wenger said the club — who next travel to Beijing to face Chelsea on Saturday — did not know what caused the food poisoning.
Wenger added of the punishing preseason schedule that many top European clubs now undertake to far-flung destinations for commercial reasons: “If you ask me is it ideal physically to prepare? I’d say certainly not.
“Has it got other advantages? Yes because we can meet fans all over the world so that is very positive.”
Reserve goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez was the unlikely hero for Wenger and Arsenal, saving Juan Bernat’s soft spot kick after Gunners substitute Alex Iwobi nodded in the leveller right at the end of normal time.
Robert Lewandowski had needed just nine minutes to fire German champions Bayern ahead from the penalty spot as they outplayed Arsenal, before Iwobi’s late intervention meant the game went straight to penalties.
Both sides fielded a mixture of first-team regulars and reserves, with new Bayern signing James Rodriguez and new Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette starting.
Bayern play AC Milan in Shenzhen, southern China, in their next warm-up game.

37 feared killed in fresh Southern Kaduna crisis
At least 37 people are feared killed and many others seriously
injured in fresh crisis that broke out in Kajuru Local Government Area
in Southern Kaduna.
The latest trouble was said to have started since Sunday when some Fulani youths allegedly went to a village at Ugwan Uka to avenge the killing of their kinsman. Kajuru Local Government is about 50 kilometres from the state capital, Kaduna.
The fresh killings show that the efforts by the government at the state and federal levels to check violence have not been effective.
The umbrella body of Fulani, the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria on Saturday alleged that four of its members were killed by youths from the troubled Southern Kaduna.
The group had alleged that youths from Kadara and Gwari communities in Kajuru were responsible for the killings.
The National Secretary of the association, Ibrahim Abdullahi, while addressing a press conference in Kaduna claimed that the incident occurred when some kidnappers raided the communities and took away the villagers.
But yesterday, one of the Kadara youths, who craved anonymity, claimed that the Fulani man that was killed was a known bandit who had been harassing the people of the area and was killed by a mob while he was trying to escape.
He said the matter was explained to the head of the Fulani community in the area who, he claimed, knew the deceased Fulani man to be a bandit, but their youths insisted on attacking to avenge the man’s death.
According to the Kadara youth, “the Chief of Kajuru even called them and spoke with them but we were surprised that in the early hours of Sunday morning, they came and carried out the attack.”
It was learnt that the Fulani youths killed five of the youths they were said to have identified as being responsible for the killing of their kinsman.
The action was said to have provoked the Kadara youths who mobilised themselves on Monday and attacked Fulani settlements, burning their houses and other property while killing not less than 12 persons in the reprisal attack.
Mallam Salisu Mohammed, an eyewitness, said that after the attack, some security agents were deployed in the communities and peace was restored for the period they were around. But, according to him, things got out of hand again when the security agents left the bushes and the Kadara youth launched another attack on the surrounding Fulani settlements, killing not less than 10 persons.
“These are the ones whose bodies have been recovered. As I am talking with you, we don’t know the actual number of casualties as our people are scattered all over, running to save their lives,” he said.
According to Mohammed, the victims were buried in a mass grave, and while at the site of the burial, they received information to prepare for the burial of another nine whose bodies were recovered from the surrounding bushes.
Another eyewitness said when the attack occurred, the youths became restive, but the elders had to calm them down.
“We have been hearing of several attacks, but when I called people in some of the communities, they say the report was not true,” he said.
He, however, said that no less than 10 persons including a seven-month-old baby reportedly died in the attack.
Confirming the incident, the Acting Police Public Relations Officer, Yakubu Sabo, said he was aware of the misunderstanding among some individuals in the community which later led to a clash and some people were said to have taken the laws into their hands.
According to Sabo, security operatives (police personnel and soldiers) have been drafted to the area and have brought the situation under control.
“Not only the police but the joint patrol comprising the police and army are still there and the situation has been brought under control. I spoke with them this afternoon and they confirmed to me they’re still there. There is no way this type of thing will happen and we will just withdraw like that.”

Idris added that such collaboration would be further strengthened for the benefit of both organisations in the interest of national security.
The IGP, who was represented by the Assistant Inspector-General (AIG) in charge of Zone 12 Bauchi, Baba Tijjani, at the summit organised by the NBC, said kidnapping and other forms of violent crimes would be a thing of the past, if the Federal Government and other stakeholders were determined to end violence in the country.
The Director-General of NBC, Malam Is’haq Modibo Kawu, lamented the pathetic situation where the Federal Government deploys armed forces in over 28 states of the federation, adding that the armed forces have taken over the responsibilities of the police, a development, he said, was also condemned by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, recently.

Anambra Election: Panic as militants back Nnamdi Kanu on boycott
Some Niger Delta militant groups have declared their support for the Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu over his decision to boycott the forthcoming governorship election in Anambra State.
The groups, Concerned Militant Leaders (CML), Niger Delta People Democratic Front (NDPDF) and Rainbow Marabas Squad (RMS) said they are unhappy over the May 30, 2016, when soldiers allegedly massacred harmless and innocent IPOB members.
Leaders of the groups, General Ben (CML), General Playboy (NDPDF) and General Aneaja (RMS), in a statement issued via online after their meeting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, demanded for justice for the victims of the May 30, 2016, Biafra Day celebration killings.
Convener of the meeting, General Ben, stated: “Federal Government should address the injustice meted out to innocent and harmless IPOB members, while celebrating Biafra Day. The election in Anambra State should not hold and will not hold. That injustice must first be addressed before any election will take place.
“Southern political leaders, who are romancing with Federal Government to truncate and jeopardize Biafra struggle because of the selfish aggrandizement, will live to regret their actions because, we will not forget them.
“Any attempt by Federal Government to take us for granted, should be resisted. We advise Anambrarians to boycott that election. Any person that flouts our order does that at his or her peril. Nobody is our target, but don’t make yourself our target”, the groups warned.
Reacting to the recent quit notice to the Igbo people living in the North by Arewa youths, and the similar ultimatum by their colleagues (militants) to the Northerners in the Niger Delta, the groups said they did not see it as a threat.
According to them, it was an opportunity for the Southerners to realise and address their agitations properly with zeal and commitment.
They advised Southerners, particularly Igbo people, living in the North, not to be carried away by whatever assurances they might have received from any quarters concerning their safety, insisting that they should heed to the order.
Ben stated: “We do not see it as a threat, but a welcome development. It should not generate disaffection. But should be accepted with commendation because it would give the agitators opportunity to champion their course with the necessary zeal it requires.“In essence, the deadline should stand, both for the South Easterners in the North, and the Northerners in the Niger Delta region and South East. And our people should return home. Every Southern is our brother or sister, whether from East, West or South.”
Housewife seeks divorce over seizure of menstrual pad
A housewife, Kafayat Akinade, has approached a Grade C Customary Court at Agodi, Ibadan, to seek dissolution of her 13-year-old marriage over seizure of her monthly menstrual pad by the husband.
Akinade told the court that her husband, Muideen Akinade, was in the habit of picking her menstrual pads for unknown reason.
She also accused the husband of brutality, saying he had turned her to a punching bag and a slave in her matrimonial home.
She said: “I live like a slave in my husband’s house without proper care. I shouldered the responsibility of our three children and never experienced happiness since I married him.
“I pray the court to dissolve the marriage so that I can have peace of mind, the court should also order him to be responsible for the upkeep of the three kids.”
The woman threatened to kill herself if the court declines her request, adding that she had made up her mind to end the union.
In his defence, Akinade denied all the allegations, but accused the wife of adultery.
He alleged that one of his apprentices slept with the woman when he travelled.
He, however, did not agree with the dissolution of the marriage and urged the court to settle the matter.
The president of the court, Chief Mukaila Balogun, said the evidences of parties had shown that there was no more love in the union.
He dissolved the marriage and ordered the man to take custody of the first child, while the second and third children should remain with their mother.
He also directed the respondent to pay N7, 000 monthly allowance for the children up keep.

Heritage Bank Staff Not Involved In N150m Fraud
Our attention has been brought to the report published by an online news blog,
Per Second News,

extent of risking being seen clearly as careless
and unprofessional. We consider it our duty to continue to provide our

Jackals, hyenas around Buhari ’ll go, says wife
President Muhammadu Buhari is getting better and will soon be back, going by his wife Aisha’s statement yesterday in London.
The President’s wife last week travelled to London to be with her husband, who is undergoing treatment for an undisclosed ailment. She has also been carrying out other assignments.
President Buhari left the country on May 7 for another round of treatment. He spent more than 50 days during his first medical vaction in London.
On her facebook page yesterday, Mrs Buhari, in a response to the July 6 post by Senator Shehu Sani, expressed herself in a figurative manner, using the animal imagery like the senator did.
She wrote: “God has answered the prayers of the weaker animals. The hyenas and the jackals will soon be sent out of the kingdom. We strongly believe in the prayers and support of the weaker animals.
“Long live the weaker animals. Long live Nigeria.”
Director of Press in Mrs Buhari’s office Mr. Suleiman Haruna, said yesterday that the post was on the president’s wife’s “verified facebook page”.
As at 10pm, about 257 people had made comments on the post, most of which were wishing President Buhari quick recovery.
“Prayer for the absent Lion King has waned; until he’s back then they will fall over each other to be on the front row of the palace temple.
“Now the hyenas and the jackals are scheming and talking to each other in whispers; still doubting whether the Lion King will be back or not.
“Now the Lion king is asleep and no other dare to confirm if he will wake up or not. It’s the wish of the hyenas that the Lion King never wakes or comes back so that they can be kings. It’s the prayers of the weaker animals that the Lion King comes back to save the Kingdom from the hyenas, the wolves and other predators.”
The senator is believed to be referring to those who are scheming to become president in 2019, criss-crossing the country in moves to taking advantage of the president’s absence.
Some people who are holding political positions are also believed to be undermining the system to position themselves in the president’s absence.
The President’s wife also yesterday posted her photograph speaking at an event in London.
She wrote under the photograph: “Today I attended the Babatunde Osotimehin Memorial Lecture at County Hall, London.
“It was an honour to have spoken about his achievements at all levels and his commitment towards women and children all over the world.”Osotimehin was the Exective Director of the United Nations Fund for Population Activitiies (UNFPA) and a former minister of health, who died last month.
